Protein localization

Normal tissues showed weak to moderate cytoplasmic staining. Squamous epithelium of esophagus, intestinal tract, exocrine pancreas, fallopian tube, neuronal cells of cerebral cortex and the germinal center cells of tonsil displayed strong positivity. Also neuronal cells exhibited moderate nucleolar positivity. Bile duct cells, islets of Langerhans, pneumocytes, parathyroid, glial cells, smooth muscle, myocytes and the non-germinal center cells were negative.

Gene name

GPR45 (HGNC Symbol)

Description

G protein-coupled receptor 45 (HGNC Symbol)

Entrez gene summary

This intronless gene encodes a member of the G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) family. Members of this protein family contain seven putative transmembrane domains and may mediate signaling processes to the interior of the cell via activation of heterotrimeric G proteins. This protein may function in the central nervous system. [provided by RefSeq, Jul 2008]
